Luke’s Dinosaur

I’ve always loved dinosaurs, but it turned out they made really lousy pets. Perhaps I should explain. My name is Luke. I’m twelve years old and I live with my father and mother in a small town in Scotland.

The thing I want to tell you about started on one Saturday afternoon, when I was wandering beside the lake. I found a big egg. There was a small crack at the top of the egg.

Then, I heard some strange sound from the egg. I thought there was something alive inside this big thing.

The strange sound got louder. Suddenly, the entire top of the, egg popped. After that, a sticky, slimy thing poked its head out of the egg and looked at me with its big yellow eyes. It had a pointed mouth and rows of sharp, tiny teeth. Its skin was scaly.

“Oh! My god!” I yelled, “A dinosaur!”

I took it back home. “What is that scary thing?” Mom and Dad asked. “It’s a dinosaur!” I said back to them.

“Dinosaurs have been extinct for about sixty-five million years.” Said Dad. “This is not a dinosaur. Maybe it is a baby lizard.”

“It is cute. Can we ket it?” I asked. “It would be such a great pet.” “Okay, but you need to take care of it yourself.” said Mom. “Yeah, of course I will and I want to name him Lucky.” I answered. “Do you think Lucky is a real dinosaur, Luke?” Dad asked. “Of course,” I said. “In fact, he is a plesiosaur, the kind of dinosaurs that live in lakes.”

Then, I put Lucky in the bathtub and fed him fish.

One week later, when I went home. I saw Lucky ate all the food in the refrigerator. And, he looked as big as a crocodile.

“What can we do?” said Dad. “He is too big. We just don’t have space to keep him.” “How about taking him to the zoo?” Mom said. “No, the zoo would not want to keep this big monster!” Dad said. “How about taking it to the Loch Ness?” I said, ”Some marine biologists think Loch Ness Monster is a plesiosaur like Lucky. Maybe Lucky can find its friends there.” “That’s a great idea.” said Dad.

Last weekend, we took Lucky to Loch Ness. Then, we said good-bye to Lucky. Finally, we solved this problem and all the troubles.

One month later, I saw a big news on TV. “Someone saw two monsters at Loch Ness.” When I saw this big news. I felt really happy for Lucky!
